A while back, I wrote a short article about the second version of these dunks. However, I completely forgot to do one on the original Nike Dunk High SB Send Help, which is funny because these are a far superior sneaker!
The shoes were designed by frequent SB collaborator Todd Bratrud and feature a skeleton graphic on the insole with the words “Send Help”.
These are super easy to rock. I went with a white tee and some black shorts today. If I were wearing pants, I’d utilize either khakis or some dark colored denim depending on if I wanted to wear a light or dark top. I would keep any teal coloration to a minimum on my outfit (accents only) to avoid overmatching.
I feel like this shoe in it’s simplicity is the pinnacle of SB design and probably my favorite Todd Bratrud shoe. If you are into SB’s you probably already know what these are. If you are on the fence about adding these to your collection, pull the trigger! These will definitely not disappoint you!
How Are The Materials?
The shoe is mostly a nice soft suede with a leather toebox and swoosh. The quality is quite good! Not surprising, as typically black box SB’s are at least of decent quality. The leather toe area surrounded by suede does give the front of these a less sloped shape than similar SB’s from this time period, however it’s still sleeker than any new release.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk High SB Send Help fit true to size, however I was able to go down a half size and they are still very comfortable! The suede around the toebox creates some give in this area which makes these fit perfectly around my foot at a half size down. These retain all the comfort and quality that suede and leather shoe from this era should have. Most will have no issue with the fit at true size.
